The Omokoroa Retreat

Outdoor living and layered planting design for a coastal Bay of Plenty property.

A contemporary coastal sanctuary designed for connection, relaxation, and effortless outdoor living.

Project Type: Coastal Design

Location: Omokoroa

Size: 745m2

Services: Comprehensive Landscape Design Package

The Ōmokoroa Retreat is a contemporary coastal garden designed to transform a simple residential section into a series of connected outdoor spaces that extend the living experience beyond the home. Balancing functionality, privacy, and visual appeal, the garden creates an inviting environment for entertaining, relaxation, and everyday enjoyment.

A generous deck seamlessly connects the house and garden while framing views toward the coast beyond. A private spa courtyard is enclosed by layered planting and carefully positioned screening, creating a secluded retreat within the landscape.

Strong geometric forms are softened by sweeping planting beds and curved lawns, creating rhythm, guiding movement, and introducing year-round structure, seasonal interest, and texture.

The result is a contemporary coastal garden that is practical, low maintenance, and designed for relaxed outdoor living throughout the year.

Design Intent:

A comprehensive landscape design plan for The Omokoroa Retreat, showing layout and plant selections, including various garden beds, outdoor entertainment area, and house surroundings, with images of plants and design elements on the sides.
A 3D rendering of a suburban house with a brick exterior and a tile roof, surrounded by a landscaped yard with a driveway, patio, and well-maintained garden, enclosed by a tall hedge.
View of a backyard patio with stepping stones, raised garden beds, and outdoor seating area next to a house, with a neighboring house and green hill in the background.

Let's create an outdoor space that's thoughtfully designed for the way you live.
